- Can You Cruise Napa Valley? Yes! Sailing American Cruise Lines' New California Itinerary
As the name suggests, the line caters to an American audience, and the guests onboard our sailing represented many of the fifty states, including quite a few from within California. “Each new itinerary includes exploration aboard three or more of American’s small ships and riverboats,” American said. American Queen Voyages offers a range of nine-day Lower Mississippi itineraries aboard the American Queen, a quaint paddle-wheel steamboat. These are the best Mississippi River cruises for those looking to experience traditional river travel. American Queen Voyages, previously known as the American Queen Steamboat Company, operates three classic paddlewheelers on eight- to 15-night sailings on all of the Mississippi, along with the Cumberland and Tennessee rivers.

Other options for a drink include Maindeck Lounge, Midship lounge and Passenger Deck's lounge. The cuisine onboard this cruise was nicely paired with the region, and included options of seafood, meat or poultry most nights, with lighter options for lunch. Lobster tails were offered (individually and as a combination with the steak on the menu) on the final night of the cruise. Entrees were accompanied by fruits and vegetables that felt like they were fresh from the fields the ship was passing through.

Rooms have more of a hotel feel than a cruise ship feel because furnishings aren't built in, plus electrical outlets are standard 110-volt U.S. household wall plugs scattered generously around the room. Our pride in the All-American experience we provide is the backdrop and ode to the historic destinations we visit, especially the Pacific Northwest where Lewis and Clark took to the region to find the legendary "Northwest Passage." Summer is the most popular season to visit the Pacific Northwest because of the long sunny days, warm temperatures, and blue skies.
World-Class Cuisine
In terms of itineraries, all three cruise lines offer a wide range of options. ACL-American Cruise Lines itinerary program includes the USA's Eastern and Western coasts. ACL also offers Alaskan cruises during summer as well as the USA's river cruise regions Mississippi-Ohio (northbound and southbound itineraries) and Columbia-Snake (eastbound and westbound itineraries). Cruise aboard the newest riverboats in the region and enjoy perfect comfort and modern amenities as you travel to each historical destination. The fabric of the region is brought to life through our delicious regional cuisine, great onboard music, and customized excursions to historical landmarks. Enjoy one of our themed cruises along the River, perfect for afternoon aficionados, culinary connoisseurs and history enthusiasts.

A day anchored in Vallejo provided time for a San Francisco shuttle, a city tour and an excursion to Alcatraz. Upon the return of the guests on tours and the final shuttle, the ship spent the late afternoon and early evening cruising San Francisco Bay, including crossing under both the Golden Gate and Bay bridges. With bright clear skies, the captain managed a complete close-up circle of Alcatraz, which he told us is not always possible. American is also offering two new itineraries in the northeast, an eight-day Downeast Maine cruise (roundtrip from Bangor, Maine); and an eight-day Yankee Seaports cruise (between Boston, Massachusetts and New York City). In the southeast, American is offering a new, eight-day Florida Gulf Coast and Keys cruise roundtrip from St. Petersburg, Flordia, including exploration of the Dry Tortugas and Everglades national parks.

The vessel (American Constellation) was followed by the sistership American Constitution (2018). In mid-February, 2020, ACL signed with Vicksburg MS a 20-year deal for preferential berthing rights and ACL investments for upgrading the riverfront docking facility. By the deal, ACL pays the city per-passenger fees and receives priority mooring along the waterfront. ACL also provides shuttle bus services for its customers for land transportation to nearby attractions and popular downtown businesses.
